We love dancing as well. That's why we are in the process of creating an app that will help us dancers be, feel, and look the best we can.

Why are you doing this?
Dancers face many challenges. We have to remember position, direction, timing, rotation… for every joint in our body… for every dance move… and for hundreds of dance moves! Dancing is quite popular, and learning in a class means that we can barely see the teachers, who are out of view in because of rows of other students, or behind their partner. Maybe the class is too fast for you. Maybe it's too slow. If you're like me, you would like a quick reference of moves when you're social dancing to remember what you have learned instead of just doing the basic. You want to take your dancing to the next level. You want to evolve your dancing.
What is Dance-Virtual?
Dance-Virtual is an app we are making to help dancers with their most important concerns:
- Being able to visually see a dance move, at any time, from any angle, and focus on any body part. Because taking notes suck.
- Expand your repertoire of moves
- Have a reference to learn, practice or review moves you've learned in class or social dancing
- Use the latest technology in Virtual Reality and 3D to enhance your dance.
How does it work?
Dance-Virtual will be a multi-platform app. This means it will take the most advantage of the devices you have.
Virtual Reality Sets
Room-scale level VR like the HTC Vive will be the most immersive and impressive implementation of Dance-Virtual. In it, you will see the dancer or instructor avatars in real-life scale. You can move around them, try to match their poses, and interact with a dance partner!
Portable Virtual Reality
Portable VR includes headsets like Google Cardboard / Daydream and Samsung's GearVR. These work by putting your smartphone in a lightweight headset. It can't track your position, but it will follow your gaze as you look around our virtual world. You will still be able to see the dancing avatars, change your perspective, and focus on particular moves as needed.
Smartphones
If you don't have a virtual reality headset, we have you covered, so don't worry! Regular smartphones are incredible and will be able to show you in 3D the virtual scene in their screens. You can swipe to move the camera around and look at the dancing avatars do their thing.

We're working hard on building this amazing app. We already have a prototype, but what we really need is information from users like you about what features you want the app to have.
